New Update: Power-Based Workouts on your Garmin Watch

We have a major upgrade to the Stryd ecosystem that makes it easier and more convenient than ever to train with running power on your Garmin watch, including automatic workout sync, workout execution, Run Profile support, customizable data fields, Environmental Power support, and Stryd Duo support.

Let's take a look at how to get started with these new features.

Step 1: How to import power-based workouts into your Garmin account & watch

Connect (or reconnect Garmin) as a connected account in the Stryd app

With this new update, we require you to reconnect your Garmin account sync in the Stryd app in order to sync your power-based workouts to your Garmin account

  1. Open the Stryd mobile app on your phone

  2. Tap the cog in the top-right to open up Settings

  3. Tap Connected Accounts

  4. Tap Garmin

    1. If Garmin is connected, tap Disconnect Garmin and then tap Garmin again to reconnect

  5. Sign into your Garmin account

    1. Make sure that Data Sharing for “Activities” and “Training” are both toggled on

    2. Select Save and then select Agree

  6. Now Garmin will be listed as a connected account and workouts will sync!

  7. Try to create a new workout or add a workout to the Stryd calendar in the Stryd mobile app and see if it syncs to your Garmin account.

When will your Stryd workouts sync to your Garmin calendar?

- New workouts are synced as soon as they are created.
- Existing workouts or newly added training plans are synced overnight

Already have your workouts on Final Surge, TrainingPeaks, or another platform?

You can keep using the activity sync enabled by those platforms to transfer your power-based workouts to Garmin Connect. You will not need to use Stryd as a go-between to transfer your workouts.

Step 2: Install & Configure Stryd Zones data field on your watch for power-based workout execution

Install or update the Stryd Zones data field on your watch

  1. Open up the Connect IQ store app on your phone

    1. If you do not have a Connect IQ app on your phone, please install it by using one of the following links.

  2. Tap on the Search tab and search for Stryd Zones

  3. Select Stryd Zones and select Install or Update to get the latest version of the data field

  4. Ensure that your watch is nearby so the update can be installed

Configure the Stryd Zones data field on your watch

  1. Open up the Connect IQ store app on your phone

  2. Tap on the Search tab and search for Stryd Zones

  3. Select Stryd Zones and select Settings

  4. You will now be able to configure a number of different settings here.

  5. Input your Stryd username into the Username field and tap Save

    1. This will enable the full functionality of the data field

  6. Input the ANT+ ID of your Stryd

  7. Configure the other settings to your liking and hit save

It is critical that you input your Stryd username into the Stryd Zones data field settings

This will enable your Critical Power, power zones, and environmental conditions to sync into your watch to enable the full functionality of the data field.

Step 3: Place Stryd Zones in the activity mode on your watch

If this is your first time using Stryd, you will need to place this data field in the activity mode on your watch to view and record Stryd data.

If you have already been using Stryd, this step is not necessary and you can proceed to the next section.

Please follow these instructions to place the data field on your watch.

  1. On your watch, press and hold the center-left button until the menu appears

  2. Scroll down and select Activities and Apps

  3. Select Run > Run Settings > Data Screens

  4. Select the Pencil Icon by pressing the top right-hand button

  5. Next, you can select Layout to add a new screen or select Data Fields to change an existing data field

  6. Select the data field you want to change, select Connect IQ, and then select Stryd Zones

  7. Leave the Data Screens menu by pressing the back button on your watch

  8. You have now added Stryd Zones

We recommend to place the Stryd Zones data field in a screen of its own for best functionality.

While the data field is flexible and can be placed in practically any configuration, you enable its full functionality by placing it on a screen of its own.

Please ensure to place the Stryd Zones data field in each activity mode where you plan to use Stryd.

For example, if you run on the treadmill, you will need to also place the Stryd Zones in the treadmill activity mode so Stryd data is displayed and recorded.

Step 4: How to select a power-based workout on your Garmin watch & start your first workout

  1. Open the Run mode on your watch, as if you were about to start an activity

  2. Before starting the activity, press and hold the center-left button until the menu appears

  3. Select Training > Training Calendar

  4. Select your desired workout

  5. Select Do Workout

  6. Monitor the Stryd Zones data field on your watch for step-by-step instructions as you progress through your workout

Compatibility

Compatibility for Workout Sync to Garmin Connect

Workout sync to Garmin Connect is available on all Stryd accounts. All you need to do is disconnect and reconnect your Garmin account as a Connected Account in the Stryd mobile app to enable this functionality.

Here is a list of compatible watches with this new update:

Approach S70 Series, D2Air x10, D2 Mach1, Descent MK2 & MK2S, Epix 2, Epix 2 Pro Series, Fenix 6 Pro Series, Fenix 7 Series & Pro Series, FR245M, FR255 Series, FR265 Series, FR745, FR945 Series, FR955, FR965, Marq 2 Series, Venu 2 Series & Venu 2 Plus, Venu 3 Series, Vivoactive 5
