How do I start a run with Apple Watch and Stryd?

Updated over 8 months ago

Before your first run with Stryd, please ensure your Apple Watch is set up correctly.

You will also want to ensure the Stryd pod has the correct weight and height settings.

Start and Open Run on the Apple Watch Stryd app

To start an Open Run with the Stryd app for Apple Watch, you must have a Stryd pod or the Stryd Duo. This app will not work without the Stryd pod(s).

  1. Press the Crown button on your Apple Watch.

  2. Open the Stryd app on your Apple Watch.

  3. You can then select the Run Profile you wish to use.
If you do not have the Stryd Next Generation hardware, you can only choose Outdoor or Indoor mode.

  4. Select Start Open Run

  5. Once your Stryd connects to the Apple Watch, you can start your run!

  6. As you start running, the power numbers change as your effort changes.

  7. To pause your run, swipe down and select pause.

  8. To end the run, swipe down and select end.

Start a Workout on the Apple Watch Stryd App

You will first need to add a Stryd Power-Based Structured Workout to your calendar in the Stryd app.

Once you have the Power-Based Workout on your Stryd Calendar, your Apple Watch can fetch the workout.

  1. Press the Crown button on your Apple Watch.

  2. Open the Stryd app on your Apple Watch.

  3. Select the Run Mode you wish to use.

  4. Scroll Down to Upcoming Runs and select today's workout.
The watch will then fetch the Power Based Workout on your Stryd Calendar.

  5. Select Start Run.

  6. You can start the workout once the Stryd is connected to the Apple Watch.

  7. Notice the Lap Target Power; this is the power assignment for the given segment in the workout.

  8. If you are over the target power, the gauge will be red.

  9. If you are under the target power, the gauge will be blue.

  10. If you are in the correct target power, the gauge will be green.
