Stryd’s Recap: Plain-language summary of how your run actually went

Post-run coaches note, personalized, instant, and always honest!

What is Stryd’s Recap?

After you finish a structured workout, Stryd’s Recap is waiting for you. This Recap is a short, plain-language summary of how your run actually went. No number-crunching required on your end. The feature reads your effort, pacing, and power data, then turns it into something you can actually act on: clear insights you can read in the time it takes to catch your breath.

Think of it as a note from a coach who watched every step of your run, concise, relevant, and grounded in your real data. Whether you nailed the intervals or drifted off pace, Stryd’s Recap gives you an honest read so you can move forward with confidence.

What Stryd’s Recap can do for you

1. Instant Post-Run Insight

As soon as you open the post-run view after a structured workout, Stryd’s Recap starts loading. Within seconds, you’ll see a personalized summary that highlights the most important takeaways from your session, no extra taps, no settings to configure.

2. Compliance Level

Not sure if you actually nailed that workout? Stryd’s Recap includes a compliance indicator that gives you an at-a-glance read on how closely you followed your structured plan:

Indicator

What It Means

🎯

Great

You nailed it! The effort and pacing were right on target.

💪

Tolerable

Close to the plan with minor deviations. Solid work.

🌱

Growth Opportunity

Significant drift from the target. This is a growth opportunity.

3. Deep Dive Analysis

Want more than just the highlights? Tap “View deep dive analysis” beneath your initial Recap to unlock a longer, richer breakdown of your run. You’ll see “Digging into your run…” while it loads. This one takes a little more time to load, but it provides the most thorough picture of what happened during your workout. Please note that it may take up to 30 seconds to load.

4. Easy On/Off Toggle

Stryd’s Recap is on by default, and you’re always in control. If you ever want to turn it off (or back on), here’s where to find the setting:

Settings → Analysis Settings → Show Stryd’s Recap → toggle on or off

What you need to get started

Stryd’s Recap works automatically when a few conditions are met. Here’s a quick checklist:

Stryd Membership:

Recap is a premium feature. Without an active membership, you’ll see an “Unlock Stryd-Powered Recap” card instead of the analysis.

Structured Workout:

The Recap is generated for structured workouts only. Sessions are built from a training plan or guided workout. Free runs and unstructured activities don’t receive a Recap.

Internet Connection:

Insights are fetched from Stryd’s servers, so an active connection is needed the first time you view a Recap for a given run. Once it’s loaded, you can view it offline anytime.

Where to find Stryd’s Recap

Stryd’s Recap lives in the post-run view, which opens automatically after your workout (if you have Open run automatically enabled) or when you tap on a completed activity. It appears as a card within the run analysis screen, right alongside your charts and metrics, no digging required.

Stryd’s Recap FAQ

I don’t see a Recap after my run. Why?

There are a few common reasons this happens:

  • It was a free run or unstructured activity. Stryd’s Recap only works with structured workouts. If the session had no target zones or intervals, the card will read “No recap available for this run.”

  • Recap is turned off in Settings. Check Settings → Analysis Settings and make sure the Show Stryd’s Recap toggle is on.

  • No active Stryd subscription. You’ll see a teaser card instead. Tap Subscribe to unlock the full feature.

  • The app is still loading. The Recap fetches after your run syncs. Give it a moment. If it doesn’t appear, try pulling to refresh the activity view.

My Recap is taking a long time to load.

The initial fetch can take up to 30 seconds, depending on server load and your connection speed. The app will show a loading indicator while it works. If it times out, try closing and reopening the activity; a cached version will appear instantly on all future views once it has been fetched successfully.

I tapped ‘View deep dive analysis’ and got ‘Deeper analysis unavailable.’ What now?

Occasionally, the extended analysis can’t be retrieved due to a temporary server issue. A Retry link appears next to the error. Tap it to try again. If the problem persists, try reopening the activity after a few minutes. If it continues across multiple runs, please reach out to Stryd Support.

Does the Recap update if I edit my workout data?

The Recap is generated based on the data available at the time it was first fetched. If you make significant edits to a workout after the fact, the cached Recap may no longer reflect the updated data. Refreshing the activity view will prompt the app to pull a fresh analysis.

Can I turn off just the deep dive and keep the short summary?

Not at this time. The toggle in Settings controls the entire Recap card. Both the short summary and the deep dive are generated together. Granular control over each component isn’t available yet, but it’s a feature we may develop in the future.
