Offline Sync Common Questions

Sync Stryd to my phone. Recover lost data.

Updated today

The Stryd pod (hardware) is a fully functioning device that saves the run data to its memory. This data is then available after the run to be uploaded from the pod to the Stryd Mobile App by performing an offline sync.

More information about Offline Sync can be found in the support article:

When I sync data using my phone it is different than data from my watch.

When using a compatible Garmin watch with your Stryd, power and other run data are recorded by your watch. We recommend that runners use the app supplied by the watchmaker to sync run data (i.e., Garmin Connect). If PowerCenter is set up to sync with Garmin Connect, the data will flow automatically from Garmin Connect to PowerCenter.

Stryd also records your running data (up to 9 hours) on your foot pod. You can upload your Stryd data using the Stryd app on your phone. This will upload your run data to PowerCenter as well. This may cause your run to appear twice in PowerCenter.

It is important to note that the Stryd pod is a fully functioning device that automatically starts recording once it senses running movement. This run data is saved on the pod after every run and is available for upload via an Offline Sync. The Stryd data is very similar to the watch data. There can be small differences in data. This is because Stryd records data automatically as soon as the pod is activated, whereas your watch only records data when you start the watch. So the Stryd may collect some walking data before and after the run.

I synced Stryd data with the app on my phone. Why is the date for my run wrong?

Stryd has an internal clock that gets synchronized by the phone. The internal clock from Stryd continues to increment time, even when not connected to a phone or watch. However, if Stryd runs out of battery the clock stops. Certain unexpected events may cause this as well.

If Stryd runs out of battery, allow it to fully recharge. Once it has recovered, the clock will start ticking again, but the time will be incorrect. When uploading Stryd data with the app on the phone, the activities will have an incorrect timestamp and may appear at the wrong date and time in the calendar.

To avoid this problem, keep your Stryd charged at all times. If you do end up with a depleted battery, connect to your Stryd with your phone to reset the time and date. Performing a successful offline sync will reliably re-synchronize the clock. An alternative is to start an indoor run, allow the phone to connect to Stryd, count to 10, and cancel the run. Re-synchronizing the clock is recommended after any attempt to reset the device.

How can I recover a lost run activity or offline sync using the Android app?

It could happen that the run or offline sync completed using the Android app fails to upload, and your data does not appear in the calendar. If this ever happens, please "Submit a Request" below so we can help diagnose the issue.

However, your data is not lost. As long as you don't delete the app, you may still be able to recover it.

Please navigate (in the Stryd Android app) to Settings -> Debug Options -> Files. Here, you can see the files from the Stryd app that are currently on your device. It will label the files as either recorded runs or offline syncs. Keep in mind that the offline syncs may represent many runs. It just depends on how often you perform offline syncs.

In order to attempt to re-upload one of these files, simply tap on the one you want to upload and tap Re-Upload.

If you have any issues with this process, such as the runs still not appearing in the calendar or in PowerCenter, please contact us.
