Stride length

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Stride length is the distance you cover with each full running cycle (one step with your left foot, one step with your right). Tracking it over time can help you understand your running efficiency and spot changes in your form when you're fatigued or pushing hard.

Viewing Stride Length in the Stryd Mobile App

  1. Open the Stryd mobile app

  2. Tap a run from the Calendar

  3. Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top corner of the screen

  4. Tap View Full Screen

  5. Tap Stride Length from the list of metrics

  6. Tap any point along the graph to see your stride length at that specific moment in your run

Viewing Stride Length in Stryd PowerCenter

  1. Select the Calendar

  2. Select the run you want to review

  3. Select Stride Length from the list of metrics

Tips for using stride length data

  • A sudden decrease in stride length during a run can be an early sign of fatigue

  • Comparing stride length across similar runs (same pace, same route) gives you the most useful picture of your consistency over time

  • Stride length naturally varies with speed - shorter at easy paces, longer when running fast. So always compare runs at similar effort levels
