Coach's View: How to Access, How to Use, Feature Set, & More

Add a coach, edit athlete calendar, advanced coach access

Updated over a week ago

The athlete must be a Stryd member or Stryd Pioneer for the coach to see the athlete's Stryd Membership or Stryd Pioneer features.

How to gain access to Coach's View

Coach’s View is only available on PowerCenter to certified Stryd Coaches. Coach's View allows the coach to see exactly the same data as the athlete.

Step 1: Become a Stryd Coach

Before your coach can access the Coach’s View, they must already have a Stryd Coach certification or complete the Stryd Coaching course.

If your coach would like to become a Stryd Coach, they can enroll here: https://coach.stryd.com/

Step 2: The coach must send an invitation to view that athlete's data

  1. The coach should log into their Stryd account on PowerCenter.

  2. If they are certified as a Stryd Coach, they will have access to an “Athlete Management” tab on the left-hand side navigation (https://www.stryd.com/powercenter/athlete-management).

-- If they are not yet certified as a Stryd Coach, please refer to step 1 for instructions on how to become a Stryd Coach.

  3. The coach needs to input the username associated with the athlete's Stryd account to send you an invite.

  4. The athlete will receive an email saying, "Your coach wants to view your Stryd account. Please log in to your Stryd account to approve the request."

  5. The athlete can either accept the request or deny the request on PowerCenter.

  6. If the invite is accepted, the coach will be notified via email and will be able to select the athlete's account to view their PowerCenter account.

  7. If the coach wants to remove the athlete from their Athlete list, they must click the three horizontal dots and then select “Remove.”

  8. If the Athlete wishes to remove or change the coach’s access to their account, they need to open PowerCenter -> Settings -> Permissions

Here, they will have the option to toggle on the edit permissions. If the edit permissions are off, the coach will have a read-only view of the user's account. Athletes will also have the ability to remove a coach altogether by selecting the three horizontal dots and then selecting Remove.

Please note that the edit permissions will be toggled off by default. The athlete will need to manually toggle these permissions on in order for the coach to start using the edit features.

How to use Coach's View

As a Stryd coach, you will be able to view your athletes' Runner Summary, Calendar, Footpath Tools, and Race Calculator.

From the Athlete Manager tab, you can select the Athlete’s profile to view their PowerCenter.

Runner Summary

The Athlete Runner Summary is an overview of the athlete's training and racing.

Here, a coach will be able to analyze athletes:

  • Membership Status

  • Username

  • Weight

  • Critical Power

  • Power Zones

  • Recent Runs

  • Running Stress Balance

  • My Training Chart

  • Power Duration Curve

A coach may want to use the My Training Chart or Power Duration Curve to better understand how the athlete’s training has been going or address any issues.

Calendar

On the Calendar view, a coach can make edits to Workouts and run data.

Workouts

Coaches will be able to add workouts, delete or edit workouts, and move workouts on the Athletes' calendar.

For more information on these features, see these support articles:

The coach will only be able to add workouts from the Stryd Workout Collection or the Coach's workout collection. The coach will not be able to see or add the athlete's personal workouts to the calendar.

Please note that the edit permissions will be toggled off by default. The athlete will need to manually toggle these permissions on for the coach to start using the edit features. Refer to Step 2, Section 8 to make these permissions available.

Run Data

Coaches will be able to upload run files, download run files, delete run files, and edit runs on the Athlete calendar.

To upload a run file, make sure you are viewing the Stryd PowerCenter Calendar. On the far right side of the screen, select “Upload Run Files”. Please note that you can only upload FIT or TCX files.

To download run files, make sure you are viewing the Stryd PowerCenter Calendar. On the far right side of the screen, select “Download Runs”. Here you can select a Date Range or a single date and download the files in FIT or CSV format.

Or you can select an individual run activity to download. Just click the three vertical dots in the top right corner of the run in question.

Coaches can also edit the athlete's runs with the PowerCenter Clipping tool. For more information on this feature, please read the support article: Data Clipping Tool on PowerCenter
