FAQ Adaptive Training

Updated this week

How do these plans actually adapt?

The Adaptive Training plans will adjust based on user input, like training days and training duration, and adjust based on the users' changing CP.

What is the difference between this plan and the Palladino Plans?

While both plans will adjust depending on fluctuations in your Critical Power, the Adaptive Training will be more flexible than the Palladino Plans. The Adaptive Training Plans allow users to select what days of the week they wish to train, and the training days selected can be modified at any time.

Why are there so many easy runs at the start?

The Adaptive Training plans will always start with a few weeks of easy training. If you inform the system that you are returning to running after an extended period of time away or are recovering from an injury, your time spent on easy training will be longer than if you have been training consistently.

For users who are coming back to running or are new to running, the Adaptive Training will put the user in a Foundation training phase. This phase will primarily be easy runs. The point of this training is to get the user used to running constantly.

For users who are used to training consistently and are not coming back from time away from training, they will be put in an Aerobic training phase. This phase will primarily be easy runs, moderate workouts, and long runs. The point of this phase is to introduce basic training and to maintain running consistency.

Both phases are focused on easy running. This is because the foundation of every good training cycle is built around easy running and consistency.

When will I get workouts after starting the plan?

If you start in the Foundation phase, it may take a few weeks of easy runs to build up the strength to start harder workouts.

If you start in the Aerobic phase, you will begin workouts within the first ten or so runs.

For both starting points, the Adaptive Training system will gradually increase the level of difficulty of your workouts.
