The Stryd app on the iPhone, Apple Watch, and Android phone can currently not be used without a Stryd power meter. You can install the app before purchasing a Stryd but you cannot start a recording or get any data without a Stryd pod.

All functionality, such as executing a power-based TrainingPeaks workout on the Apple Watch becomes available after pairing a Stryd device with the Stryd mobile app.
