Stryd is designed to be accurate out of the box without calibration for most runners. If you have experienced distance and pace inaccuracy, you should check your watch configuration and how Stryd is attached. This article is for you if you have one of the following complaints:
"My Stryd Pod suddenly changed in calibration."
"My Stryd Pod is off on distance reporting by huge margins (more than 3%*, which equates to 150m or greater error in a 5K run)."
"My Stryd pace is changing rapidly while I run at what I know is a constant speed."
"I run a route all the time and Stryd is telling me a different distance than I know this neighborhood route is."
"I ran the same route today and yesterday and got different distances."
The steps below are important and will help with accuracy and consistency issues.
1) Compare Stryd with watch data
Compare Stryd with watch data. This is a complicated step, reach out to [email protected] if you need assistance.
2) Auto-Calibration Settings (for Garmin users only)
Garmin watches have an "auto-calibrate" feature. In the FP-##### sensor settings of the watch select the "Cal. Factor" menu. You will see Auto-calibrate as an option and should disable it. If the calibration factor changed without you manually setting it, reset the value to 100.00. If autocalibration had been enabled, run for a few days and chat that consistency and accuracy have improved.
3) Pace and Distance Settings (for Garmin + COROS users only)
Garmin and COROS watches can use either Stryd or GPS for distance and pace reporting. If you weren't paying close attention during setup, you may not be getting your pace and distance from Stryd (power data is transferred independently from pace and distance data).
For Garmin watches, go to the sensors & accessories menu. Remove FP-STRYD if present. Then, go to the FP-##### sensor menu. Make sure Speed and Distance both are set to "Always" in this list to use Stryd for this data instead of GPS.
For COROS watches, go to the STRYD option in the Accessories list. Select it and find the Distance Setting option. Make sure this is set to "USE STRYD" or the watch will choose to use GPS for that data.
If your watch required this change, test it for a few runs and see if the data makes more sense before changing anything else.
4) Securing Stryd on the shoe in the correct position
Make sure the Stryd pod is in the correct position and orientation for consistent and accurate out-of-box reporting. It should be centered and close to the toe of the shoe with the narrow end closest to the toe and the wide end closer to the ankle. See our video on this positioning here: Clip Stryd® Pod on the Shoe

If Stryd is not in the exact same position when you switch shoes, you may experience that Stryd is inconsistent and reports different data.
5) Check and recheck the exact route you ran
You might feel sure you ran exactly the same route today as yesterday and are concerned by a notable difference in distance reporting by Stryd. Check and recheck the GPS map of the two routes with meticulous comparison. It is common that subtle yet significant route differences exist, such as turning a block earlier one day than the other, or adding an extra loop somewhere:
6) Stabilizing the Stryd Pod on the shoe.
You may experience inconsistency if you haven't attached the device to the shoe in a stable manner. The device needs to be supported by a minimum of three laces, and benefits from more laces holding it in place as long as it is properly positioned. These steps will resolve almost all inconsistency and calibration issues. If after these steps something still does not seem right, contact our support team for further assistance.
*If you believe your pod is experiencing a very small degree of error, meaning less than 3%, the above steps are still a relevant consideration. However, if none of the above apply or improve the issue, we suggest a more formal calibration test to rigorously test and correct for any issues.
